Superman is a superhero appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. The character is widely considered an American cultural icon. The Superman character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, high school students living in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1933; the character was sold to Detective Comics, Inc. (later DC Comics) in 1938. Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1 (June 1938). With the character’s success, Superman helped to create the superhero genre and establish its primacy within the American comic book.
Superman was born on Krypton, before its destruction, he was sent by his father Jor-El to Earth in a rocket. Upon arriving to Earth, still an infant, he was discovered by a young married couple in Kansas. They took him in as their own and raised him with a good morals and values.
As he got older his abilities began to manifest and once he became of age he moved to Metropolis to work in the Daily Planet as Clark Kent and be a superhero as Superman. At the Daily Planet he met his love interest and eventual wife, Lois Lane. Also, once moving to Metropolis he also met his arch nemesis, Lex Luther, they will forever be at odds. One trying to save the world and the other trying to save the world from a would be God.
